The significance of historical and modern day use of traditional Inuit trails and surrounding knowledge cannot be emphasized enough. Trails used by Inuit allowed them to connect with resources and other Inuit and now play an important role in preserving culture and heritage. A team of researchers, students and personnel collaborated on a project to create an Atlas of the Pan Inuit Trails that span over Arctic waters, lands and coasts. The database is quite extensive and was created from hundreds of materials – both published and unpublished documents. It is worth a look – the amount of used established trails is quite staggering.
