Representatives from the Torngat Joint Fisheries Board and the Torngat Wildlife and Plants Co-Management Board are in Nain, Nunatsiavut this week participating in the Tukisinnik Research Forum.

The Torngat Wildlife & Plants Co-Management Board will be meeting in Makkovik May 3 - 5, 2010. The Board and Secretariat staff are hosting a public consultation on the evening Monday, May 3 at the Community Hall from 7 - 9 pm.

Presentations will be given on the roles and responsibilities of the Board, proposed new moose management zones and exploratory crab surveys.

We look forward to meeting the public and hearing the community's interests and concerns regarding wildlife and plants in and around the Labrador Inuit Settlement Area.

A representative for the Torngat Joint Fisheries Board recently attended the Northern Shrimp Advisory Committee meeting in St. John's, Newfoundland and Labrador.

There was a market presentation and it is once again expected that the fishing industry will continue to experience many challenges for the upcoming year.

The driver behind this uncertainty is that many factors, such as landings, exchange rates, the price of oil and the strength of the economy, determines the success of the industry...

Memorial University is developing a new research plan and they want your input! A public consultation is scheduled for Monday, April 19th from 7 pm to 9 pm at Hotel North Two in Happy Valley-Goose Bay. Coffee/tea will be served at 6:30 pm. These meetings are being held to help identify research opportunities of strategic importance to Newfoundland and Labrador.
