During the Torngat Joint Fisheries Board Crab and Char Workshops in Nain, in the fall of 2012 a group of fishers proposed the idea of a Nunatsiavut specific radio station focusing on fish and wildlife.
The OKâlaKatiget Society Board of Directors later approved the idea and a new program has been launched! The new show is called UKaluataunjunit or 'What people are saying'.
UKaluataunjunit airs on Wednesdays between 3 and 4pm on the following frequencies:
Nain - 99.9 FM
Hopedale - 89.9 FM
Postville - 89.9 FM
Makkovik - 99.5 FM
Rigolet - 89.9 FM
ULM - 1340 AM
The inaugural show on January 18th, 2012 focused on the George River Caribou Herd. Tomorrow, the focus will be on the Davis Strait Polar Bear Population and quotas in Nunatsiavut.
